Would you please tell me why I can login just fine here on the web, but I can't login with the update client using exactly the same user name and password? The update client wrongly insists that either the username or password are incorrect.

If you have special characters in your password, you should download and use the latest version of IP update client.
Also, the username for the account is not your email address though you may be able to log into the website control panel with your email address. The username can be found in 'Account Profile' section of the control panel.
